Eventually he attacked science in general and supported the positions taken by Warren Harding\u2019s Return to Normalcy: \u201cPut America First\u201d by increasing tariffs, limiting immigration, and maintaining order by force. This expanded to requiring bible reading, mandating the teaching of capitalism, and prohibiting teaching that \u201cours is an inferior form of government\u201d. Bryan\u2019s ultimate conclusion was that \u201call the ills from which America suffers\u201d could be traced to the teaching of evolution.
