The chapter will participate in the annual Portland Pride Parade & Festival on Sat, June 15th. We have participated in the parade for years but this will be the first time we will have a table at the festival. The parade starts at about One PM and gets to the festival in Deering Oaks Park about Two PM. Those who want to be in the parade would be wise to be in Portland about 11 AM for parking; carpooling is encouraged.

I will set up and be at the festival table from 10 AM to 5 PM.  We ask those who support the right of everyone to be themselves by defending the separation of church and state to be at the table for a 3 hour shift and then enjoy the festival.

This is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and will most likely be a Portland Pride event you don’t want to miss. A documentary about the Stonewall Uprising and its importance in the nation’s history is available at: https://www.pbs.org/video/american-experience-stonewall-uprising/

Atheists can learn much from the Civil Rights and Gay Rights movements. Remember, every group that has stood up for their rights have significantly reduced discrimination and increased protections for their human rights.
