Just a reminder about the cookout at Bob and Raisa’s house in W. Bath on Sat, July 29. We will gather at noon, start grilling at 12:30 and eat by 1 PM. It’s always a great and relaxing time at Bob and Raisa’s. Depending on interest we may discuss hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking or, when the snow gets here (yes, it will return) XC-Skiing and snowshoeing.
Chuck Dinsmore, an FFRF and FFRF Maine member who is also on the board of the Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley Nature Center (HVNC) in Jefferson, has offered to lead a hike there some time. Chuck, it would be nice if you could go to the cookout and talk about what the HVNC has to offer.
Here is what Chuck sent me:
May I offer another venue
(in addition to Swan Island)
to consider for similar activities: Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley Nature Center (HVNC) in Jefferson
Lots of things/activities available year-round, facilitated as well as open to visitors 365 days a year, dawn to dusk (overnight at a couple of cabins & yurts, or campsites, too). Check events as well as general info at midcoastconservancy.org [full disclosure – I’m on the MC Board]. Having volunteered @ HVNC for years, I would be delighted to lead a hike there some time. I believe that there are lots of like-minded folks in the HVNC community, too.
Hope to see you all at the cookout or later at a chapter outdoor event on Swan Island or at the Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley Nature Center (HVNC) in Jefferson
